HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY

E.M.G.Yadava Women’s College Library serves the needs of the faculty, research scholars, students, and members of the library. It is the hub for study and research for the inmates of the college.

E.M.G.Yadava Women’s College Library was started in 1974. The new library building “Senna Pulavar Karmega Konar Ninaivu Noolagam” was declared open by our Secretary and Correspondent, Yadava Rathna “Thiru S.Gopalakrishna Yadav” on 17.08.2004. Previously, the library covered 3650 sq. ft, and at present, it covers 4700 sq. ft.

The classification scheme used is the Colon Classification System; the Automation process began in 2008; Barcode Technology was also introduced in the same year, and Web OPAC-Online Search Facility was launched in 2016.

In 1978, Mrs. N. S. S. Hema Latha Devi M.A(T)., M.A(G.T.)., M.L.I.Sc., M.Phil. was appointed as the first librarian. Following her, in 2021 Mrs. R. Jeyanthi M.Sc., B.Ed., M.L.I.Sc., SET., was appointed.
