E.M.G Gopala Krishna Kone Yadava Women’s College was established in the year 1974, with the vision of building a strong and healthy society by providing Value added Education to socially and economically backward Women.

Vision :

To provide Value-based education to the educationally, socially, economically backward and underprivileged rural women students and contribute towards promoting Women Empowerment to build a strong and healthy society.

Mission :

To enlighten the women, mainly from rural areas and backward communities through Value-based education, molding students into leaders, entrepreneurs and nation-builders.


The Institution has been Administered under the Governance of E.M.Gopala Krishna Kone Yadava Mahalir Kalloori (Women’s College) Association, Madurai, and affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University .

The College was started only with Pre – University course at E.M.G . Kalyana Mandapam at Tallakulam and the Institution was repositioned at the current location with an area of 15 acres of land contributed by the E.M.G. charitable Trust in 1980. Thus, the implementation and realization of the vision of Thiru. E.M.Gopala Krishna Kone was initiated by our beloved mother, Tmt ,E.S.R.Alamelu Ammal. Thiru, E.M.G. Soundarajan has become the life time President of the College and patronized the Institution till 2008. The sincere and adorable service of Thiru, E.M.G. Soundararajan is being continued by Tmt. E.M.G.S. Indirani, lady of determination, Social responsibility and religious Zeal renders her service for the empowerment and enlightenment of women which develops the Institution to reach an unimagined height.

Tailoring, Beautician Course, Jewelry making, Fabric Painting, Two Wheeler/ Four Wheeler Driving , Computer Training under Central Government Scheme.

Yoga, Karate, Hindi Classes, Spoken Hindi Classes, Personality Development Courses, Entry-in-service coaching, NET/SET coaching classes.

Mile stones in the History of the college:

Accredited with B+ + by NAAC in 2003.
The institution attained AUTONOMOUS STATUS in 2006.
Reaccredited with ‘A’ Grade with CGPA 3.17 in 2010.
Extension of Autonomous Status was granted by UGC in 2013 for the period (2013-2019).

Institution Awards:

The college has been bagging “Over All Runner” –Over all Women Championship, Madurai District Championship, Best College Award for Communal Harmony, Rolling Cup for Youth Empowerment, Golden Jubilee Rolling Cup from Madurai Kamaraj University for the past Four years.
Institution has been receiving ”Blood Donation Award” annually.
The college has been receiving the award “IAB Blind Empowerment Champions - Platinum zone” from Indian Association for the Blind, annually.
The college takes pride for having outnumbered the students of other affiliated colleges in attempting the Gandhian Thought examination and felicitated with the Rolling Shield consecutively from 2010-2012 onwards by Madurai Kamaraj University.
Bagged shield for YOGA from Pathanjali Yoga and Sports Development Association.
Got Shield for Yoga from Deesha Yoga Centre.
The college has been receiving Best Performer award for YOGA on Independence Day / Republic Day Celebrations of the District from the District collector of Madurai, annually.
Won the Prestigious 8th All India Open Karate Championship.
Sports Awards received by students from Madurai Kamaraj University.
Received the BEST COLLEGE AWARD for students services in 2005 from Madurai Kamaraj University .
Received the BEST COLLEGE AWARD for communal Harmony in 2006 from Madurai Kamaraj University.
Received the Over all Runner up shield and Madurai District Women Championship in the Youth Festival conducted by M.K.U. for the current year and the last year.
The students received the “Best Performer Award” for Yoga in the years 2012 & 2013 Republic Day Programmes – conducted at Reserve line.
